This week Gareth Rossi owner of Gravity fitness is discussing the new InBody 270 Composition Analyzer. Recently, this state of the art body composition analyser was purchased for Gravity Fitness clients. This piece of equipment is highly reliable, and is next in line to the Dexa scan, which is the gold standard in body composition analysis. While the Dexa scan comes with a hefty price tag (approx. €100/scan), our monthly members at Gravity Fitness can avail of the InBody on a monthly basis as part of their membership. So far, we’ve seen a change in clients focus and mind-set knowing that they have an easy way of being tested each month and also have a clear focus on what their goal should be for the month, for example, aiming to burn fat or build muscle. There are some guidelines clients need to follow, in the 24 hours prior to the test, please consult with staff to ensure you adhere to these guidelines to get the most out of your test.
Just to note, for those of you who are not monthly members, we are open to consultations, please contact us with any questions you may have and to organise a consultation.
Snapshot overview of what the Inbody 270 Body Analyser can do for you:
15 Second Test:
The test takes 15 seconds, once standing on the machine after your height has been measured and inputted to the machine. You simply still for 15 seconds, and the machine will quickly measure fat mass, muscle mass, and body water levels. Thankfully, there is no dunking, no pinching and no discomfort. Simply stand on the device and hold the hand electrodes and wait for the print out of your results.
No Estimations:
The machine works by bioelectrical impedance, which determines the electrical impedance, or opposition to the flow of an electric current through body tissues which can then be used to estimate fat free body mass, body weight and estimate total body water. Each limb and your torso is analysed, and you get an overview of where you’re carrying most amount of fat or muscle. Therefore, there are no empirical estimations such as gender and age are used or required to predict your body composition.
History Tracking:
Tracks changes on the Body Composition History chart on the result sheet, each test is added to your own personal database so you can easily track your progress.
Lean Mass Score:
Provides lean mass values for each body segment in pounds
Body Fat %:
Provides segmental fat (each body part) and visceral fat (wrapped around organs) analysis
